About DvJ Design

Founded in 2018, DvJ Design has successfully delivered the building services design for many projects and the level of repeat business indicates the level of customer satisfaction.

DvJ Design has become specialised in residential design and is particularly interested to work on projects that reduce the buildings energy use and carbon emissions.

The company has three core values that I believe make a good building services consultant. Read on to discover what these are and how DvJ Design will meet each of these values. Consultancy is only truly satisfying when clients are pleased. I hope that I may have the opportunity to provide you with quality designs and a high level of personal service.

Energy and Carbon

I am always keen to work with clients who share the same desire to lower the carbon emissions of buildings.


DvJ Design has experience in advising clients with regards to sustainable designs that are also affordable and presenting the information in a clear form. 


The graph shown is an example of how the energy use for an existing house was calculated for a client and the energy reduction for each option was displayed. This along with operating and running costs allowed the client to make an informed decision.


I am a certified Passivhaus designer so I can model buildings in the Passivhaus PHPP software and provide advise to meet the criteria. Passivhaus certification is far more rigorous than Part L compliance so it is a great way of ensuring that the finished building will perform as expected.


The energy performance of a Passivhaus is far better than a building regulation compliant building. If we are to meet the UK's zero carbon target, all new buildings should be built to the Passivhaus standard.

Values

What makes a good building services consultancy? I’ve identified three themes:

High Quality Design


I am not an MEP engineer who says “This is how we always do it”. I will challenge industry standards and be forward thinking. I design systems to achieve ‘real world’ energy and carbon savings which are achieved by getting the details right, particularly at the commissioning stage. 

Clear Communication


Being a good designer is not enough of itself to deliver a successful project. The engineer must also communicate effectively with the client and design team. At DvJ Design, by limiting the work I take on, I will be able to focus on communication.
